Be Kind or Be Gone
It matters more than ever and those who do it win.
Be Kind or Be Forgotten
The best sales strategy I’ve ever seen still starts with one rule: be a good human first.
The best leaders I have ever worked with focused on one rule: be a good human first.
The best humans I have ever known are: good humans first.
Don’t just brush over this and say yeah no sh!t.
Think about it. If you need to put it in business terms, use this;
Kindness cuts through noise faster than the fanciest AI subject line.
Kindness is not forgotten and your response rate will increase exponentially
Kindness is long-term (even if your product is not a fit today).
Kindness leads to referrals and favours and friendship
Kindness is how you would want to be treated.
GTM or GTFO is brought to you by Reevo. The best sellers aren’t the ones with the most sophisticated tech stack. They’re the ones who spend the most time actually selling. Reevo is the AI-native revenue intelligence system and CRM that every team deserves. Go Stackless.
Some of you are kind by nature and you just can’t help it. But many of us are not as naturally awesome. We have to think about being kind and plan it. Some of us need some ideas on ways to be kind to be others in business.
If that’s you, here you go.
Here are a few tactics and moments you can use to get people to stop doomscrolling and swiping and have them say “wow, I can’t believe INSERT YOUR NAME just did that for me”
Kindness Tactics:
Send a handwritten thank-you note to someone who tagged you in a post or referred someone to you
Send your prospect a small, thoughtful gift tied to their hobby
Make an intro that saves them three weeks of vendor research
Be responsive as hell and respect their time
Text someone with a quick “How can I help you?” just because.
Call someone to just say “How are you doing?, I am here for you”
Be honest and direct with prospects and say this (and If you don’t believe this is true, please get out of sales) - “My goal is first and foremost to simply build a relationship and to help you. If you choose us that’s great but more importantly I want to you choose the product that is right for you and my goal is to make that easy for you to do”
To clarify one thing, from a pure business perspective, there is a difference between being strategic kindness (for example, kindness built and delivered strategically for the purpose of moving a deal forward) vs kindness that is self-sacrificing to the point of it not helping you close deals. So, kindness in itself is wonderful and I recommend it highly, but it does not automatically equal high-performance sales. That said….
Put Humanity first. When you do, I promise you, you might become the world’s best salesperson, and if not you will at least be loved the world over.
P.S. GTM is your only moat. Get it right. Or GTFO
Why GTM or GTFO Exists: The GTM is bar is low - big talkers, best practices and bullshit. Being elite is your moat. Do the work that matters and get sh!t done.
